# API keys

> Create, rename and revoke API keys to connect other apps to your Cal.com account through the API.

API keys let other apps make API calls for your Cal.com account. Each key acts as you, so keep it secret.

Go to **Settings** > **Developer** > [**API keys**](https://app.cal.com/settings/developer/api-keys).

## Create an API key

1. Click **New**, or **Create your first API key** if you don't have one yet.
2. Under **Name this key**, give it a name that tells you where it's used, for example "Development".
3. Choose when it expires: 7 days, 30 days, 3 months or 1 year. Turn on **Never expires** for a key with no expiration date.
4. Click **Create**.
5. Click **Copy to clipboard** and save the key somewhere safe, then click **Done**.

> [!WARNING]
>
> You can only see the key once. If you lose it, delete it and create a new one.

## Manage your keys

Your keys are listed with their name and expiry date. Expired keys are marked **Expired**.

Open the **Options** menu on a key to:

* **Edit**: change its name.
* **Delete**: revoke the key. Any app using it stops working right away. Click **Revoke this API key** to confirm.

## Use your key

See the [API reference](https://cal.com/docs/api-reference/v2/introduction) for how to send your key with requests.
